The Marion Hungry Mothers improved their record to 3-1 with a 10-8 road win over the Uwharrie Wampus Cats on Sunday in Albemarle, North Carolina.
Christiansburg, Virginia, native M.J. Hunter from Concord University went 3-for-5 with five RBIs to lead the way as Marion pounded out 13 hits.
The Hungry Mothers overcame six errors to prevail.
Auburn High School graduate Damien Boyd (Southwest Virginia Community College) and former Carroll County High School slugger Jacob Nester (Emory & Henry) each had two hits and two RBIs, while Will Epstein (Virginia Commonwealth University) scored three runs.
Emory & Henry's Alex Vaught (Fort Chiswell) tossed 2 2/3 solid innings of relief to get the win on the mound. He is 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA this season.
Marion plays at home Thursday.
