The Hollywood Reporter shared that the reboot is finally set to premiere on August 4. A description of the new season reads, "After years working a propane job in Saudi Arabia to earn their retirement nest egg, Hank and Peggy Hill return to a changed Arlen, Texas, to reconnect with old friends Dale, Boomhauer and Bill. Meanwhile, Bobby is living his dream as a chef in Dallas and enjoying his 20s with his former classmates Connie, Joseph and Chane."
In addition to the premiere date, Hulu also released the opening sequence that pays homage the original. The 40-second visual gives audiences a rough timeline of what's happened since the show ended, including the new family that moved into the Hill's Arlen, Texas home, the pandemic and the Hill family's return. Closing it out is a Hill family portrait with Hank, Peggy and a grown-up Bobby.
Reprising their roles are co-creator Mike Judge, Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, Johnny Hardwick, Stephen Root, Lauren Tom and Toby Huss. THR adds that Hardwick, the voice of Dale, was able to record for the revival. Huss took over the role for the rest of the first season.
