The burn, which the state firefighting agency is conducting in partnership with the Napa Communities Firewise Foundation, is a continuation of previous burn operations Nov. 8 and Nov. 18 at Castleview Ranch near the Solano County border, Cal Fire said in a news release Wednesday. Residents in both Napa and Solano counties can expect to see smoke between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Cal Fire described the Castleview site, which is atop a ridge east of the city of Napa, as a strategic location that was affected by wildfires in 2008 and again during the 2017 Atlas Fire. Fuel types that will be consumed during the controlled burn are mainly grasses and oak woodland.
