A 70-year-old man died Wednesday afternoon after a farming accident in southern Sedgwick County.

Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office deputies responded at 2:06 p.m. to a farming incident in the 10200 block of S. 127th Street East, Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Branden Stitt said.

"The caller reported that his 70-year-old father had been working on a large John Deere combine when a mechanical failure caused a fatal accident," Stitt said.

Mulvane EMS declared the man deceased at the scene. The victim's identity was not disclosed. Stitt said the sheriff's office will likely release his name Thursday.
