Feed the Need heads to House of Hope in Martin County

STUART, Fla. (CBS12) -- As inflation continues to push the cost of living higher, CBS12 News is partnering with local food banks this summer to get food on the table for families in our area.

This week, the Feed the Need campaign heads north of Palm Beach County to Stuart and House of Hope.

The organization serves 30,000 people along the Treasure Coast and they are expecting a busy summer. Ongoing government funding cuts and changes to programs many families rely upon may force them to turn to food banks, like House of Hope.

"Sometimes lower-income people get a bad rap, but nobody's trying to game the system," CEO Rob Ranieri said. "It's hard for them to walk through this door and ask for help."

House of Hope offers plenty of help to its community, like sharing important information on the food they are putting in their bodies. They even stock up on fresh produce grown locally.
