As you finalize your holiday plans and grab those last-minute gifts, garbage collection might be the last thing on your mind.
With Christmas Day approaching, leaders across several Southeast Louisiana parishes are reminding residents of canceled or modified trash collection schedules.
Orleans Parish
Officials with the City of New Orleans said that there will be no curbside trash and recycling collection on Wednesday, Dec. 25, for residents outside of the French Quarter and Downtown Development District. Trash and recycling will resume on Dec. 26 and follow a day behind schedule.
The city also noted that curbside trash collection at eligible properties in the French Quarter and Downtown Development District will not be impacted by the Christmas holiday.
Jefferson Parish
Jefferson Parish officials said that garbage will not be picked up on Wednesday, Dec. 25, for residents in Unincorporated Jefferson Parish and the Town of Jean Lafitte. Garbage pickup will resume on Saturday, Dec. 28.
St. Charles Parish
St. Charles Parish officials said River Birch Renewable Energy will not collect garbage on Wednesday, Dec. 25.
St. James Parish
Officials with St. James Parish said that Waste Management will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25, and the parish does not have Wednesday collections, meaning the holiday will not impact the garbage pickup schedule.
St. John the Baptist Parish
St. John the Baptist Parish officials said Waste Pro will not collect garbage on Wednesday, Dec. 25, or Wednesday, Jan.1, 2025. Trash collection will resume on the next regularly scheduled day.
Terrebonne Parish
Terrebonne Parish officials said garbage pickup will be suspended on Wednesday, Dec. 25.
