CASS COUNTY, Ind. -- Deputies with the Cass County Sheriff's Office were involved in a shooting early Tuesday morning that killed one person.

According to officials with the Indiana State Police, deputies from the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a scene at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday where two people had reportedly been stabbed.

As the deputies were helping the individuals who were stabbed, a suspect approached the deputies. Officials said that the suspect was asked to put down the weapon. The suspect failed to comply and reportedly started to chase one of the deputies with the weapon.

A deputy with the sheriff's office then fired a shot at the suspect. Officials with the Indiana State Police said that the suspect was then pronounced dead.
