A southwest Roanoke family has been displaced as the result of a fire at their home late Saturday.
Shortly before 9 p.m., Roanoke Fire-EMS Department crews were called to the structure fire in the area of 22nd Street and Lynn Avenue Southwest, according to a social media post.
Roanoke police officers helped crews locate the burning house, as callers could not confirm the exact street and house number, the post continues. Fire department personnel from Station 1 arrived first and saw smoke and flames showing from the residence, then went to work searching the home and extinguishing the blaze.
The fire was under control about an hour later, according to the post. No injuries were reported, and the Red Cross provided assistance to the displaced family.
A department spokesperson said Monday that the fire's cause was still undetermined, but damages had been estimated at $75,000.
