CAPE MAY -- Power was out in part of the city Thursday morning while crews replaced a utility pole damaged in a car accident, police said.

The pole was in the 1200 block of Lafayette Street. Police said Atlantic City Electric would disconnect the power for several hours while repairs were underway.
As of 8 a.m., police said, Verizon had informed them the utility pole could be repaired by 6 p.m.
The release did not include any details about the cause of the accident, the condition of the driver or any injuries.
