Obese Petitioner Wants Wide Airline Seats

Jae'lynn Chaney from Vancouver, Washington, has initiated a petition on Change.org demanding that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) implement regulations to accommodate plus-sized passengers better. Her campaign highlights the reduction in airplane seat sizes over the years, which she claims now average around 16 inches in width.

It would be great to have larger seats, but airlines reduced the size due to financial difficulties.

Some say most obese people are obese through their own fault, and they should pay for two seats when they travel.

I have traveled with obese passengers when seats were wide, and they still overlapped. I'm not sure this would solve their problem. Many need two seats.

What do you think? Is the airline to blame, or the obese people?
