While details are slim at this time, Lafayette Police officials say one person was shot multiple times in an incident that happened early Tuesday morning.
According to witnesses at the scene of the shooting in the 100 block of the Northwest Evangeline Thruway, an argument happened between two people when one person started shooting at the other.
Senior Corporal Ashley Wood with the Lafayette Police Department's Public Information Office says that the victim was shot multiple times. As police responded ot the scene, the person believed to be responsible for the shooting was not there, but the investigation continues with detectives interviewing witnesses. The shooting happened at around 2:45 Tuesday morning.
Wood says the victim was undergoing surgery at a local hospital after being taken there following the shooting. Wood says they are asking anyone who has any information about the suspect or the situation to contact them.
