STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAW) - Lauren Dailey has been baking and selling custom sugar cookies for eight years now. She learned when she was young, while helping her grandmothers and mom in the kitchen. What once used to just be a fun hobby all those years ago, has blossomed into something much greater.

"The first time I started making cut out cookies specifically was once we moved to this house, and I actually had some counter space to work with. I got a lot of positive feedback, so I just kept at it and kind of started making them for every holiday," Dailey said.

Now, Dailey makes intricate cookies year-round for any occasion including baby showers, weddings and holidays, all while being a mother, wife and working a full-time job.

"I actually work in healthcare, so I'm pretty busy. I only tend to take usually an order every other week or so with my job. It does require me to be on call, so I have to kind of work around my call schedule at the hospital," Dailey said.

Dailey says she takes as many orders as she can without getting stressed out. Some of the designs can take around a half an hour just to make one cookie but Dailey says the hard work pays off.

"My favorite part is when the customers get their order, and they are thrilled. It's really nice to be able to be part of somebody's special events," she said.

To make the perfect cookie, bakers have to find the right groove. Sometimes this includes adding more tools to their toolboxes, and other times it's getting help and support from your loved ones. For Dailey, her husband helps makes the process easier.

"He bought me a 3D printer. So, I can make any custom cookie shape that I want and that's kind of his job since I don't know how to work it. He makes all my custom cutters for me," Dailey said.

Dailey says that she's always up for taking new customers.
