ENFIELD, Conn. (WWLP) - The chase of a stolen vehicle Sunday evening came to an end when police dog Duke of the Enfield Police Department halted the escape of the suspect and allowed police to take him into custody.
Enfield police were sent to an alert of a stolen vehicle chase approaching the Connecticut state line and found the vehicle traveling south on Interstate 91. When officers signaled for the vehicle to stop, the driver did not comply. An officer used a Stinger tire deflation device to stop the vehicle, where it was disabled south of Exit 47E.
The Enfield Police Department said that the driver then left the vehicle and ran on foot, trying to jump over the guard rail into the woods. The officers deployed Duke from the Enfield Police K-9 Unit and he successfully stopped the suspect from getting away.
The driver was taken into custody by police after he was caught. No details regarding the identity of the suspect have been released.
