T-Mobile and SpaceX have been aggressively working on bringing satellite communication to their customers and are closer to their promise of bringing the service by the end of the year. While the services will be officially available next year, T-Mobile is working on testing devices to see if they can support the feature. Satellite texting is said to revolutionize cellular coverage, given that it will offer a new level of connectivity, especially in far-flung areas where poor connectivity is often experienced.

While T-Mobile and SpaceX have met with hindrances from rival companies in launching their Direct Cell service, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) granted them permission to launch the services. This marks a major milestone since it would allow for T-Mobile customers to reap the benefits of extended connectivity especially in remote areas where traditional cellular services are generally poor.

As a result of the approval, T-Mobile last week began accepting applications from customers interested in the beta program. Although the number of users will be limited, the company is giving specific users a chance to test the new service before the official launch.

With T-Mobile opening up its beta testing to its customers, some users suggested that they saw a new option on their phones, namely "Satellite networks." The feature is reportedly not active, which makes sense since users are not subscribed for now, but it does give a glimpse into how the services would work. Users have been advised to get a clear view of the sky for the most optimal satellite service experience, doing the buzz if the feature is limiting or contradictory to the expectations.

The new option is said to have appeared on the Galaxy S24 and Z Fold 6, which could potentially indicate the flagship model's eligibility for beta testing and could be probably the first phones that have the option appear. Even if the option is something users would not benefit from every day, it is comforting to know that access to a useful feature like this is not far away, especially for Samsung users. Although the menu indicates availability in limited areas, the coverage could expand later on.

Nonetheless, T-Mobile working on testing devices and the feature seems promising and has users anticipating on the official roll-out of the service.
