'The Last Great Hamburger Stand' cooks up S.A.-area restaurant

Some Texans might have some mixed feelings about the California burger spot.

It might not be a Hooters, but it's a start. A California burger spot going through a Texas expansion is strengthening its numbers in the Hill Country.

Fatburger is coming to Boerne Stage, just south of Boerne, in 2025, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) filing. TDLR filings are subject to change without notice.

Construction on the $202,875 restaurant is expected to begin on January 20, 2025 and finish around May 9, 2025, the TDLR filing noted. The 2,423-square-foot property will be next to Chick-fil-A in the Walmart parking lot in Boerne Stage.

Fatburger has been flipping patties since 1947 and is known as "The Last Great Hamburger Stand." Hungry guests can grub down on the iconic Fatburger that is created with 100% lean ground beef and customized to the buyer's desire or order "The Works," which consists of lettuce, tomato, onion, mayonnaise, mustard, pickles and relish.

Fatburger is under the FAT Brands umbrella, which also runs Round Table Pizza. The company shared in 2022 that it will open roughly 80 restaurants in Texas over the next decade.

The first Round Table Pizza was opened in San Antonio in September 2022. The second Fatburger in San Antonio opened in May and opened its first Texas Hill Country restaurant this November in New Braunfels.

MySA reached out to Fatburger for a comment on the new Texas Hill Country eatery and if any other towns are being considered for a new restaurant.
