Dec. 23 -- A company that offers "ghost tours" through what it describes as some of the most haunted sites in the country is expanding to Santa Fe.

US Ghost Adventures, which offers the tours in 150 locations, is offering nightly guided ghost tours around the city, according to a news release from the company. The Santa Fe tour includes stops at La Fonda on the Plaza, the San Miguel Chapel and the Drury Plaza Hotel.

Those taking part in the tour can expect to hear stories of violent prisoners, scandalous affairs, haunted hotels, public executions and a smoking nun, the company said.

"Our tours are designed to offer an immersive, educational experience that reveals the stories and legends that make these places so hauntingly memorable," Lance Zaal, founder and owner of US Ghost Adventures, stated in the release.

The company said the tours are led by local expert guides who are knowledgeable about the city's history and its hauntings.
