Rochester city buildings set new hours

Dec. 26 -- ROCHESTER -- City Hall, along with two other Rochester city buildings, is adjusting in-person service hours in 2025.

Starting Jan. 2, City Hall, 201 Fourth St. SE; Development Services and Infrastructure Center, , 4001 West River Parkway; and Rochester Public Utilities, will be open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

"We observed that in-person community service demand significantly decreases after 4:30 p.m.," Deputy City Administrator Aaron Parrish said in a statement announcing the change. "As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the experience for residents, businesses and city teammates, we have determined that adjusting our operating hours will better align with current service needs."

The announcement stated the change is being made to allocate resources more efficiently while continuing to serve community need. The update also reportedly creates consistency with the hours of in-person service observed by Olmsted County, the State of Minnesota and some existing city offices.

While the offices are closing at 4:30 p.m., RPU and 311 information line will continue to offer phone support until 5 p.m.
