Kailee Poisson started the campaign after city council voted to dock the Ward 4 councillor's pay for 30 days for a code of conduct violation.

The city's integrity commissioner found that Carpenter violated the code of conduct during a June 25, 2024 council meeting when he publicly disclosed information from an earlier private in camera meeting.

The integrity commissioner further recommended Carpenter receive a reprimand.

"I resonate with some of the councillors who felt that the consequence is a little too harsh given the recommendation from the integrity commissioner," Poisson said. "It (the pay suspension) was done on short notice, at the start of the holiday season, a time of year that can be difficult for a lot of people.
