A 21-year-old man is in jail after police say he fled from officers, crashed into two patrol cars, and nearly hit a pedestrian and an officer on Saturday afternoon.The incident began around 1:16 p.m. near Spruce Avenue and 20th Street in West Palm Beach when Jailen Tyree Lewis was pulled over for reckless driving, including running a stop sign and almost hitting someone crossing the street.Police say Lewis admitted he did not have a driver's license. Officers noticed a gun in his waistband and asked him to step out of the car, but he refused."The sergeant stopped the car and was in the process of speaking with the driver. The driver said he did not have a driver's license, and when another officer was coming to assist, a gun was noted on this driver," said Mike Jachles, from West Palm Beach police.Lewis then drove off, hitting two patrol cars and forcing an officer to jump out of the way."He almost struck a pedestrian, almost struck an officer who fortunately jumped out of the way, struck two patrol cars, and took off," Jachles said. "Nobody was injured, which is the only good thing out of all of this."About an hour later, Lewis' car was found abandoned near Lilac Court.
