FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) -- A man is facing charges after he allegedly stabbed another person multiple times -- including once in the eye -- during an altercation in Fairmont.
According to a criminal complaint, on Dec. 2, officers with the Fairmont Police Department responded to a report of a fight on 4th Street. The caller told the officers that one of the men involved had a gun.
When officers arrived on 4th Street, they said they spoke with a woman who said her son, identified as Antwan Beafore, 32, of Morgantown, was involved in an altercation with two other men at an undisclosed address on 4th Street. Officers also said they spoke with the woman who lived at that address who said that the men weren't there and that "she did not know what was going on."
At that point, Marion County 911 dispatchers notified the officers that there was a stabbing victim at "the Fairmont Hospital." Officers arrived at the hospital and found a victim with stab wounds on their left arm, the left side of their torso and their left eye, as well as "a laceration on the bridge of [the victim's] nose," the complaint said.
Officers then said they went into the waiting room where they spoke with a family member who had accompanied the victim to the hospital. The family member told officers that they and the victim were at the 4th Street address when Beafore "showed up." They added that Beafore was upset "because he could not find his girlfriend" and that he was "verbally aggressive" toward them and the victim, the complaint said.
A short time after the initial interaction, the victim walked to JAG Laundry on Fairmont and called the family member, telling them that they had "got into a fight with Beafore and was stabbed and needed help," the complaint said.
Beafore has been charged with malicious assault and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
