In the fourth annual Christmas turkey dinner tradition, New Visions Homeless Services looks to feed over 200 individuals in the metro. The tradition began after a volunteer had the idea to smoke their main Christmas dish using his own smoker. The turkeys are donated from local area businesses year after year and the sentiment has grown into what it is today. Starting from smoking 4-5 turkeys, to now having the capacity to feed over 200 people. New Visions Homeless Services food director Cornell Austin joined KETV from New Visions in Council Bluffs to discuss the "why" behind the meals and support for our neighbors. New Visions' services are low-barrier, which means that their meal site and services are open to anyone in the community who needs support.
