On Christmas, Netflix treated fans with the official trailer for the upcoming season of The Night Agent. The series follows Gabriel Basso's Peter Sutherland, an FBI agent who discovers a conspiracy at the highest levels at the White House during the Night Action. The new season will pick up Peter's highly dangerous mission to discover a top-secret organization with a deathly threat.

The action-packed trailer shows Peter still on the run, afraid to trust anyone. The former FBI agent is seen running, fighting, kicking doors, and shooting at anyone who seems suspicious. The clip also teases several newcomers, including Amanda Warren's Catherine, and the action picks up right after the events of the critically acclaimed Season 1. Peter managed to save the president, but now he has a brand-new mission to find someone who stole some experimental weapons, and he will be heading to New York to uncover a new conspiracy. He has to rely on old friends and new faces to survive the latest peril, as the "fate of the nation" is in his hands.
The Night Agent Season 1 also starred Luciane Buchanan as Rose Larkin, Eve Harlow as Ellen, and Sarah Desjardins as Maddie Redfield, among others, and Season 2 will introduce a fresh roster of talent. Warren will be joined by Teddy Sears, Brittany Snow, Arienne Mandi, Louis Herthum, and Berto Colon.

The Night Agent Season 1 was a massive success. In its first four days, the action thriller series debuted as the third most-viewed debuting series on Netflix and secured its spot as the streaming service's sixth most-viewed series. It's currently seventh on Netflix's Top 10 most popular shows, with 98.2 million views. It also secured a Certified Fresh 74% rating from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and 79% from the audience.
The Night Agent Will Return for Season 3
The first numbers for The Night Agent were so high that Netflix is betting everything on the series. Based on Matthew Quirk's novel of the same name, the series' strong numbers were enough not only for a second season but a third one, as well. Months before the release of the upcoming Season 2, Netflix officially renewed The Night Agent for Season 3, while also revealing the release date for the second installment.

The wait between seasons was longer than expected, with Season 1 premiering in March 2023, and the second was expected to be released on the platform in 2024. Season 3 is expected to start production early in 2025, and will have a series of new faces, including David Lyons (ER), Jennifer Morrison (Once Upon a Time), Stephen Moyer (True Blood), Genesis Rodriguez (Lioness), Callum Vinson (Chucky), and Suraj Sharma (How I Met Your Father).
