A police officer who was seriously injured responding to a call in South Phoenix on Tuesday night is expected to be released from the hospital Wednesday night, according to a Phoenix police statement Wednesday morning.
Officers responded to an apartment near Central and Sunland avenues around 8 p.m. Tuesday night to serve an order of protection. When police arrived, a woman became aggressive. When the officers attempted to take her into custody, other family members began to assault the officers, including one officer who was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Three people were taken into custody after the incident, including one teenage suspect and two women. All were in the process of being booked into a Maricopa County jail and were not identified.
