The Rest Is Still Unwritten: What Is The Future For Legal Document Drafting?

We're drilling down on all things document management + AI on the Non-Eventcast podcast.

With all of these conversations taking place simultaneously around the use of artificial intelligence in law practice, it begs the question: What happens with legal documents?

You know, some lawyers out there are still using paper documents, and many others continue to rely heavily on "find and replace."

Does that mean they're going to be "found and replaced"?

It's always been the case that attorneys who adopt modern technology can work faster and more effectively.

So, when will your document drafting processes intersect with AI? Perhaps sooner than you think . . .

To talk over the timeline, we invited onto the Non-Eventcast podcast a couple of experts: Dr. Cain Elliott, head legal futurist at FileVine, and John Rizner, also of FileVine, where he is the head of AI legal drafting.

Cain and John started off discussing whether there is still a distinction between legal research and legal drafting, or if it's all just one melting pot at this point (4:03, 4:40).

After that, John and Cain got into how best to transfer data into and out of AI tools, as well as how AI programs can be connected to each other and other legaltech products (7:41).

Next, John and Cain mused over whether there will be a future point in time where law firms don't rely exclusively on Microsoft Word for document drafting (11:08).

We then spoke about so-called "autonomous agents," the next step in the development of AI, which will become massively leveraged alongside legaltech software (13:14).

Cain then went solo, to talk over how law firms in various practice areas can leverage AI for document management (20:38) to enhance attorneys' creativity while simultaneously reducing the unnecessary complexity often introduced into those documents that attorneys draft (26:51).

Finally, Cain directly addresses "hallucinations" -- when AI makes up fake cases & how to solve for that (22:37).

But you're not hallucinating: We're really drilling down on all things document management + AI, for law firms. Hear all about it, at our latest, greatest episode of the Non-Eventcast podcast.
