Postgame Notes from Kentucky's Loss to Ohio State - Nation of Blue

Kentucky fell to 10-2 after tonight's 85-65 loss to Ohio State in the CBS Sports Classic at Madison Square Garden.

The Wildcats are now 0-3 against the Buckeyes in the CBS Sports Classic. Overall, Kentucky is 5-6 in the event.

 Kentucky is now 10-2 while Ohio State improves to 8-4.

 The series is tied 11-11 with OSU winning the last three meetings.

o Ohio State leads in games played on neutral courts, 7-4.

 Kentucky is 5-6 in the CBS Sports Classic, 0-3 vs. Ohio State in the event.

 Kentucky is 38-17 all-time in games played in the New York City area, including

 Led by Otega Oweh's 13 of 13, Kentucky did a good job getting to the free throw

line, making 27 of 32.

 UK had 11 assists on 17 made baskets, an assist percentage of 64.7.

o UK entered the game with an assist percentage of 59.1.

 UK won fast-break points, 7 to 4.

Player Notes

 For the third time this season, Otega Oweh had a season-high 21 points.

o He made a career-high 13 of 13 at the foul line.

o He tied the fifth-best free throw performance in school history, as four

Wildcats have had games making 14 of 14.

o He has scored in double figures in every game this season.

 Jaxson Robinson had 10 points, his sixth straight game in double figures.

o He made a pair of 3-pointers. It is his fifth straight game, and 10 th game

this season making multiple 3-pointers.

 Andrew Carr had 13 points, his fourth straight double-figure game and ninth of

the season.

 Koby Brea had eight points, including two 3-pointers. He has made at least one

3-pointer in every game this season and this was his 10 th game with multiples

threes.

 Amari Williams had six points and a game-high eight rebounds.

In the First Half

 Kentucky's starters were Lamont Butler, Jaxson Robinson, Otega Oweh,

Andrew Carr and Amari Williams. UK has an 8-2 record with this lineup.

 Brandon Garrison and Koby Brea were the first substitutions at 15:36.

 With UK ahead 21-20, Ohio State went on an 8-0 run and UK called timeout at

4:26. OSU never trailed again.

 OSU continued a string of five consecutive made field goals in stretching the lead

to 35-25.

 UK went more than eight minutes without a field goal until a Williams dunk with

47 seconds left.

 Ohio State went to halftime ahead 39-30. It tied UK's lowest-scoring half of the

season, also 30 in the first half at Clemson.

In the Second Half

 Kentucky began the second half with the starters.

 Ohio State scored the first six points to make it 45-30.

 Kentucky cut the deficit to six, 51-45, and OSU called timeout at 14:20.

 OSU came out of the timeout with five quick points to reclaim a double-digit lead.

 Kentucky got back within eight points at 59-51 but got no closer.
