Lincoln police took a 16-year-old boy into custody for allegedly shooting and killing his 20-year-old brother overnight Tuesday. Officers responded to a report of gunshots just after midnight at the Bridgeport Apartments. Police found the 20-year-old victim outside with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the hospital. Investigators said the victim and his 16-year-old brother arrived at the apartment complex in separate vehicles. While walking up to the building, police said the 16-year-old saw an unknown individual. Police said the 16-year-old was in fear for his safety after he was allegedly jumped by a group of people in a parking lot on Friday, so he fired multiple rounds, hitting his brother. Police said both of them were in possession of firearms. The 20-year-old's gun was recovered at the scene. The 16-year-old is in custody and will face charges of manslaughter and use of a weapon to commit a felony. Lincoln police are not identifying the suspect or victim until family is notified.
