(FOX40.COM) -- A man was recently arrested after he was found to be driving three times over the legal alcohol limit in Yuba City, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP said on Friday that "an observant individual" saw a driver hit a metal pole as he parked at a gas station. The person reportedly witnessed the driver exit the vehicle and believed the driver was possibly drunk.
"Since we are on an MEP (maximum enforcement period), our officers arrived quickly and located the driver," CHP said. "After field sobriety tests, it was determined the driver was driving under the influence, in the approximate ballpark of 3x the legal limit, at 6:50 a.m. Kudos to the witness that noticed the out-of-place driving!"
CHP advised drivers to not get behind the wheel after drinking.
"Get a ride from a sober driver, rideshare, or stay where you are at," CHP said. "We want everyone to get to and from their Holiday plans safely."
