Syracuse lawmakers vote to revoke permit for two bars connected to violence

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- The Syracuse Common Council voted on Monday, Dec. 23, to revoke the special use permits of two bars that allowed them to operate following violent incidents.

The Taste of Brooklyn Sports Bar on South Salina Street at the Valley Plaza and Tommy's Bar and Grill on Wolf Street had already been shut down by Syracuse code enforcement earlier in the year after shootings and stabbings at the bars.

Back around midnight on Aug. 14, a 25-year-old man was shot and killed in the plaza outside of The Taste of Brooklyn Sports Bar, which was preceded by another deadly shooting in the plaza on June 16 where a 30-year-old man was killed.

On Sept. 14, a man was shot and two women were stabbed near Tommy's Bar and Grill. All three victims survived.
