Everyone's Saying the Same Thing About Nico Iamaleava After Tennessee-Ohio State

The first round of the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff came to an end on Saturday.

No. 7 Notre Dame defeated No. 10 Indiana on Friday night to get things started. On Saturday, No. 5 Texas topped No. 12 Clemson, 38-24, and No. 6 Penn State blew out No. 11 SMU, 38-10.

The final game of the first round was another blowout as No. 8 Ohio State took care of No. 9 Tennessee, 42-17.

Ohio State had a 21-0 lead in the first quarter, and then they brought a 35-10 lead into the fourth quarter.

It was a frustrating performance for Tennessee, especially with tons of fans making the trip to Columbus.

Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleave finished with just 104 yards and no scores in 14-of-31 passing but added to scores on the ground.

After the game, a lot of fans had a similar thought: Iamaleava should transfer.

"Nico Iamaleava might want to transfer to a program that runs the wishbone. I've seen him on some early Heisman lists for next season," one fan said.

"Iamaleava finna enter that transfer portal fasho," wrote another.

"Just stop the bleeding. Let Nico transfer and start another rebuild on both sides of the ball," a Tennessee fan wrote.

"He should transfer to a real offense that has actual good players and Oline and scheme etc I wouldn't be mad if he did," said another.

"Nico Iamaleava has entered the transfer portal," wrote a fan after the game.

"Nico Iamaleava should consider transferring to Ohio State," said another.

"BREAKING NEWS: NICO IAMALEAVA ENTERS TRANSFER PORTAL AT HALF TIME. AGREES TO PLAY AT OSU NEXT YEAR," wrote another.

During the regular season, Iamaleava threw for 2,512 yards with 19 touchdowns and just five interceptions while adding 317 yards and a score on the ground.

However, Iamaleava is a five-star QB recruit, and he could hit the portal and explore his opinions after the loss to Ohio State.

The Josh Heupel-led offense that Tennessee runs also did not look great on Saturday night, which certainly didn't help Iamaleava's case.

Iamaleava played high school football at Warren in California, and he was a five-star recruit in the Class of 2023, per 247Sports.

He was also the No. 2 QB in the class and had offers from plenty of top-tier programs, including LSU, Miami, Alabama, Ole Miss, Florida, Notre Dame, and Ohio State, among others.

It was Iamaleava's first season as the starter for Tennessee, so leaving via the portal would be a tough blow for the program.

If the freshman signal-caller does enter, he will likely have a ton of suitors even this late in the process.
