Cato Network's Etay Maor Discusses Gen AI Impact on Cybersecurity
Shadow AI, malware evading defensive AI and deepfake-enabled attacks will dominate 2025, predicted Etay Maor, chief security strategist at Cato Networks, emphasizing the need for organizations to improve visibility and detection to counter rapidly evolving AI-driven threats.
"AI is growing and changing so rapidly," Maor said. "We have not seen anything like it. Just think about what we did with LLMs a year and a half ago versus now - it's amazing. Criminals are constantly adapting and we, as defenders, need to be there, watching and staying ahead of new threats as they emerge."
The rise of shadow AI is similar to the rise of shadow IT. "The first question every organization needs to ask itself is, 'Do I have visibility? Can I even see everything that is happening on my network to identify these shadow AI tools?'" Maor said.
In this interview with Information Security Media Group, Maor also discussed:
Maor is an industry-recognized cybersecurity researcher and also a founding member of Cato CTRL.
