CHERRY HILL, N.J. -- The Cherry Hill Police Department, in collaboration with Cherry Hill Mall management, announced a parental escort policy to be enforced Thursday evening to ensure a safe shopping environment during the holiday season.
Starting at 4 p.m. on Dec. 26, all visitors aged 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or supervising adult aged 21 or older to enter the mall. The policy will remain in effect until the mall closes at 7 p.m., according to officials.
Proof of age will be required for admittance, and each adult may escort up to four juveniles. The directive comes amid heightened concerns about unsupervised minors at retail centers. Juveniles acting irresponsibly will be escorted off the property, while those engaging in criminal activity will face arrest and prosecution, police said.
"The goal is to ensure a safe and enjoyable shopping experience for everyone," the Cherry Hill Police Department stated in a social media post, urging parents not to drop off children unsupervised.
