A fire inside a unit at a commercial building in downtown Los Angeles was quickly extinguished Saturday morning by Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters.

Fire crews were called to 506 S. San Pedro St. and Fifth Street just before 5 a.m. where they found light smoke coming from the one-story building. Firefighters were able to contain the flames to a single unit, preventing the fire from reaching the attic or nearby units, LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.

It took 30 firefighters 23 minutes to extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported, Stewart said.
