10 Weakest Dragon Ball Super Characters Who Still Made A Difference

Dragon Ball Super successfully builds upon its shonen predecessors and boldly pushes its characters and storytelling to unprecedented heights. Dragon Ball Super, while technically set before Dragon Ball Z's concluding Peaceful World Saga, exposes Goku and the rest of his friends and family to grandiose ideas like Gods of Destruction, Angels, and an entire multiverse of complications. Introducing godly ki and other divine transformations like Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego mean that Goku and Vegeta are powerful enough to take out some of the strongest beings in existence.

Dragon Ball Super's intimidating stakes means that greater strength has never been more important. However, physical power isn't the only way to make an impact in Dragon Ball Super. There are several weaker characters who still manage to irrevocably make a difference in their own ways that play to their specific skills.

10 Monaka Is The Ultimate Scapegoat & Manipulation Tool

Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 32, "The Matches Begin! We're All Off To The 'Planet with No Name!'"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 7, "Warriors From Universe 6"

Close

Monaka is a humble delivery driver from Universe 7 who gets caught up in an elaborate lie that Beerus concocts in order to motivate Goku and Vegeta to train harder. A competitive martial arts tournament between Universe 7 and 6's Beerus and Champa occurs, which prompts Beerus to turn to an unconventional battle strategy. Beerus brags that Monaka is Universe 7's strongest fighter, when in reality he's barely able to throw a punch. It's a risky strategy to take up a position in the Tournament of Destroyers that a fighter with actual martial arts skills could otherwise fill.

That being said, this gambit pays off, and it pushes Goku and Vegeta to train harder and surpass their limits. They still don't know the truth about Monaka. There's even an amusing bonus chapter in Dragon Ball Super's manga where the lies of Monaka's incredible power become so pervasive that Zamasu uses the Super Dragon Balls to steal his body, rather than Goku, and is crestfallen over the results.

9 The Oracle Fish Keeps Beerus Updated With The Universe's Developments

Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 3, "Where Does The Dream Pick Up? Find The Super Saiyan God!"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F,' Chapter 3, "Chapter 3"

Dragon Ball's universe continues to expand and there are many unique divine beings who first enter the scene in Dragon Ball Super. Many of these important characters intentionally subvert expectations and some of the multiverse's strongest individuals -- like Zeno the Omni-King -- look and act like silly gag characters. The Oracle Fish is a sage prophet who is a part of Beerus' inner circle.

The Oracle Fish, a tiny tadpole-like creature who is confined to a fishbowl staff, can't do much in combat, even if she has the strength to back it up. This fringe figure still has a lot of value to offer, and she tips Beerus off to prophecies that threaten his position of power. It's the Oracle Fish who informs Beerus about the Super Saiyan God and Frieza's overwhelming power boost that turns him into Black Frieza -- although Frieza isn't specifically named-dropped in the latter of these scenarios.

8 Sorbet Devastates The Universe Through His Frightening Fealty To Frieza

Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 18, "I'm Here, Too! Training Commences On Beerus' World"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F,' Chapter 1, "Chapter 1"

Frieza was one of the worst threats that Universe 7 ever saw, and he handled the conquest and destruction of countless planets, including the Saiyan's homeworld. To Frieza's credit, his Frieza Force army stayed in operation after his death and continued to cause chaos in his honor. Sorbet, the Frieza Force's commander, proves his value to the deceased tyrant when he uses the Dragon Balls to resurrect Frieza.

This is described as "the worst wish in history" and it triggers a disturbing chain reaction that results in Frieza's return to glory, even after another death. It's entirely possible that Frieza wouldn't have been on any of the heroes' minds and that Goku would have recruited someone else to fight for Universe 7 in the Tournament of Power if Sorbet never revived him.

7 Zuno Is The Multiverse's Ultimate Source Of Intel

Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 31, "Off To See Master Zuno! Find Out Where The Super Dragon Balls Are!"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 7, "Warriors From Universe 6"

Dragon Ball Super brings forward many individuals who have a lot of sway in the multiverse, but Master Zuno is an especially cryptic character who plays a very important role. Zuno has an unconventional appearance and an even odder personality that leaves a lot to be desired. However, people will put up with Zuno because he allegedly knows every single thing that's happened in the multiverse.

He's a living almanac and history book who can make or break a character's journey. Individuals come to Zuno for many reasons, but the most common request is to learn about the Super Dragon Balls and their location. Zuno's Super Dragon Ball knowledge becomes pivotal during Zamasu's self-serving quest to retrieve the treasure. Much later, the Heeter Force's Macki and Oil grill Zuno on the Saiyans, which changes the course of their mission.

6 Future Mai Is Future Trunks' Sounding Board In Their Violent Timeline

Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 47, "SOS From The Future: A Dark New Enemy Appears!"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 14, "SOS From The Future"

Close

Future Trunks is a fan favorite character and one of the most exciting elements of Dragon Ball Z's Cell Saga. It took a long time for Future Trunks to return, but Dragon Ball Super brings him back in a very big way when his timeline is under attack by Goku Black. Future Trunks travels back to the past in order to ask his time-displaced friends for help against this overpowered threat. Future Trunks does a lot of heavy lifting during Dragon Ball Super's assault on Goku Black and Future Zamasu. However, it comes to light that one of Future Trunks' most valuable partners in the Resistance is Future Mai.

Future Mai is a human who lacks ki skills and martial arts knowledge. Future Mai is a quick shot and arguably Future Trunks' best friend. Future Mai keeps Future Trunks sane in a world that feels increasingly chaotic. She's an essential form of emotional support for the worldly warrior. Future Trunks and Future Mai's relationship is so tender and sweet that teen Trunks and Mai from the present timeline seem to follow in their footsteps and develop a crush on each other.

5 Monaito Is Planet Cereal's Last Namekian

Anime Debut: N/A; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 69, "The Evolution Of Planet Cereal"

Dragon Ball Super's Granolah the Survivor Saga features some of the manga's biggest developments as it introduces new enemies, allies, and an abundance of transformations, including Vegeta's game-changing Ultra Ego upgrade. The story arc begins with Granolah as a determined villain who is prepared to do whatever it takes to get revenge on the Saiyans for his Cerealian people's destruction. Granolah soon realizes that the Heeter Force manipulated him, who are his true enemies here.

By Granolah's side is Monaito, an elderly Namekian who can't do much when it comes to combat, but he provides essential advice regarding the Heeter Force's Gas. Monaito also shares an unexpected history with Bardock, Goku's father, and he's able to educate the Saiyan about his deceased father's past selflessness. Monaito's information about Bardock becomes an enlightening breakthrough for Goku when it comes to coming to terms with his Saiyan roots and developing his own version of Ultra Instinct -- True Ultra Instinct.

4 Dr. Hedo Carries On His Grandfather's Work

Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Movie 2, "Super Hero"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 88, "Super Heroes Are Born"

Dragon Ball Z's Dr. Gero wasn't a powerful villain, but he left a permanent mark on the world through his advancements in Android technology and the blueprint for Cell. Dr. Hedo is cut from the same cloth, which might be no surprise, considering that he's Dr. Gero's grandson. Dr. Hedo doesn't go so far that he turns himself into an Android, like Dr. Gero did, but he perfects a powerful new duo of Androids for Red Ribbon, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2, as well as upgrading Cell's schematics to become Cell Max. This makes Dr. Hedo a important player.

His Gamma Androids and Cell Max ultimately become the catalysts for Gohan and Piccolo's totemic new transformations; Gohan Beast and Orange Piccolo. However, Dr. Hedo finally understands that he's been manipulated by Red Ribbon and pledges allegiance to Capsule Corp., along with Gamma 1. Dr. Hedo's defection will definitely be a major asset to the heroes and their future technological abilities.

3 Videl Plays An Essential Role In A World-Saving Ritual

Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Z, Episode 200, "Gohan Goes To High School"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Z, Chapter 227 (Dragon Ball Chapter 421), "Herculopolis High"

Videl is a fascinating figure when she's first introduced in Dragon Ball Z, but she becomes much more of a passive player in Dragon Ball Super once she starts a family with Gohan. Videl really doesn't get much to do in Dragon Ball Super, either as a fighter or a character. That being said, she does inadvertently make a major difference during Goku's struggles against God of Destruction Beerus. Beerus is dead set on destroying the Earth if he doesn't receive satisfaction through a battle against a Super Saiyan God.

Goku learns he can trigger this transformation if he performs a Super Saiyan God ritual, which requires the ki transfer of six righteous Saiyans. It seems as if Goku is a Saiyan short, only for Videl to reveal that she's pregnant and that Pan's fetus technically qualifies as the final Saiyan. Videl's involvement in the Super Saiyan God ritual makes the transformation possible and saves the planet. It later comes to light that a Saiyan can become a Super Saiyan God without such a ceremony, but Goku wouldn't have been able to ascend to this status and hold off Beerus without Videl's help here.

2 Gowasu Carries A Heavy Burden For The Sins Of His Student

Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 53, "Uncover Black's Identity! Off To The 10th Universe's World Of The Kai's!"; Manga Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Chapter 16, "Future Trunks's Past"

Dragon Ball Super engages in a thrilling mystery when an evil Goku doppelgänger, Goku Black, emerges with a malevolent plan to wipe out all mortals from existence. It eventually comes to light that Goku Black is Zamasu -- Universe 10's Supreme Kai apprentice -- who has used the Super Dragon Balls to steal Goku's body and team up with his future self. Zamasu is the student of Gowasu, Universe 10's Supreme Kai, who experiences incredible guilt over his unintentional role in this scheme. Gowasu isn't complicit in Zamasu's actions, but it's his teachings and philosophies that help spark the fuse that gets Zamasu going.

Gowasu survives this traumatic experience and carries tremendous trauma over Zamasu's actions. Gowasu locks away his universe's Time Ring to prevent anything similar from ever happening again. Gowasu is also reluctant when it comes to recruiting participants for Universe 10's Tournament of Power team because he's so worried that he might repeat the same mistakes that he did with Zamasu. Gowasu stays out of combat, and it's his wisdom that's his greatest asset, but his connection to the Zero Mortal Plan makes him a pivotal player.

1 Jaco Is A Vigilant Galactic Patrolman Who Helped Stop Multiple Alien Convicts

Anime Debut: Dragon Ball Super, Episode 20, "A Warning From Jaco! Frieza And 1,000 Soldiers Close In"; Manga Debut: Jaco The Galactic Patrolman, Chapter 1, "The Galactic Patrolman Goes To Earth"

Close

Jaco the Galactic Patrolman toes the line between gag character and prolific police officer. He curiously made his debut in his own manga series that eventually revealed itself to be a Dragon Ball prequel. Jaco has become an official supporting player in Dragon Ball Super and the series has shone a brighter light on his Galactic Patrol organization and the role that they play in maintaining peace throughout the universe.

Jaco lacks brute strength, and he's guilty of letting his cowardice and emotions get the better of him. He helped warn the heroes and provide support for various extraterrestrial threats that make their way to Earth, such as Frieza and Watagash. He also trails the sentient liquid weapon, Commeson, and follows it back to Planet Potaufeu. Jaco's intel and guidance has helped mitigate these disasters.
