PS5 Users Getting Warning Emails Over Messaging URLs - PlayStation LifeStyle

Sony has reportedly begun sending out "breach of conduct" emails to PS5 owners attempting to use the browser by messaging certain URLs. The PS5's not-so-secret browser isn't intended for general use given that it's how consoles are modded and jailbroken, but this is the first time we're seeing reports of Sony cracking the whip.

A simple Google search shows webpages and videos dedicated to guiding PS5 players on how to access the console's browser. Many of those methods have since been plugged by Sony. One of the ways players could still access the browser was messaging a Google URL to a friend, which turns it into a clickable link that pops open the browser.

Reddit user GamingKyuubi claims that they have been using the Google URL method to picture-in-picture YouTube or Twitch, but the last three times they tried, they instantly received automated emails from Sony warning them that they had breached its code of conduct, and repeated violations may result in a PSN account ban.

"This is completely automated and happens the instant you send the message," GamingKyuubi explained. "They've never sent a breach of conduct email for normal URLs before."

Some users have responded saying that they are able to use URLs from other websites such as Bing and DuckDuckGo, but we suggest not taking a risk as it'll only be a matter of time before Sony catches on.
