Hudson Meek, who jumpstarted an acting career by appearing in the hit movie "Baby Driver" as a child, has died.

The young actor died at the age of 16 in his home state of Alabama on Dec. 21, two days after he reportedly fell from a moving vehicle, according to local news outlets. His family confirmed his death in a statement made on Facebook.

"Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight," the statement reads in part. "His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met."

Meek's breakthrough role came as a child-version of the titular character in 2017's "Baby Driver." According to his IMDb page, he also made appearances in "MacGyver," "Found" and "The School Duel," among others.

No additional details were immediately made available. Local police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
